Canadian Foundation for Innovation – Matching

In the 2017 Provincial Budget, Research Manitoba received a $2 million cut to its budget, which is now $15 million annually.

Research Manitoba is reviewing its organizational priorities and will align our programs with strategic goals identified through this strategic planning process.  This could mean significant change for, and possible cancellation of, existing programs.  Research Manitoba is currently analyzing feedback from a stakeholder survey, and anticipates having more information on 2018 programming available early in 2018.

We understand that this may bring about substantial changes and we greatly appreciate your patience as we work through this process.

Research Manitoba’s Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) Matching Funds program is a critical component of the provincial research funding in Manitoba. The CFI Matching Fund program provides matching funds (40% of project total) for proposals that have been awarded grants through one of CFI’s competitions. When Research Manitoba has been notified that a proposal has been successful in a CFI competition, the Research Manitoba online CFI matching funds application will be opened for a specified period of time. * Eligibility requirements, and further program information can be found in the Program Guide (link below).
