Health Research Graduate Studentships
In the 2017 Provincial Budget, Research Manitoba received a $2 million cut to its budget, which is now $15 million annually.
While Research Manitoba traditionally launches our Trainee, New Investigator, and Mid-Career Investigator Health Competitions December 1st, the launch of the 2018-2019 competition has been postponed. Please be aware that with our recent budget cut and current strategic planning process, there could be significant changes for, and possible cancellations of, existing programs. We are currently working through this process and we will share more information in the last week of April, 2018.
We understand that this may bring about substantial changes and we greatly appreciate your patience as we work through this.
A limited number of Health Research Graduate Studentships are offered to qualified graduate students who are undertaking full time Master's or Doctoral programs in the Province of Manitoba.
However, in those disciplines where training at the pre-doctoral level is not available within the province, Research Manitoba will consider funding elsewhere if documented evidence, indicating the unavailability of provincial training opportunities and a firm intent to return to the province after training, is provided.
Research Manitoba partners with other Health Research Funders and Institutions for a coordinated competition where a single merit review process (managed by Research Manitoba), assesses applications to award funds from all partners and Research Manitoba.
The 2017 Graduate Studentship Competition partners are:
CancerCare Manitoba Foundation
Children's Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba
Health Sciences Centre Foundation
Lung Association, Manitoba
University of Manitoba - College of Dentistry, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences
*General Research Manitoba Graduate Studentship eligibility requirements, along with the additional eligibility for the above partners can be found in the Guide (link below).
The competition is open to all eligible applicants, whether or not they are affiliated with the institutions listed above.
