Today, Research Manitoba along with our funding partners, announces the allocation of $1.41 million in funding for 64 studentship and fellowship awards. These awards will benefit Master’s students, PhD students, and Postdoctoral Fellows, supporting the next generation of researchers in Manitoba.

Research Manitoba is proud to partner with the following organizations on this year’s awards:

- Centre for Healthcare Innovation
- Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba
- Health Sciences Centre Foundation
- Manitoba Lung Association
Collectively, these partners contributed $317,500 towards this year’s awards.
The funded research projects encompass a diverse range of fields such as cancer biology, neuroscience, mental health, Indigenous health, environmental science, reproductive health, biomedical engineering, immunology, aging and digital health technologies.
Investing in researchers at every stage of their academic journey, from Master’s students to Postdoctoral Fellows, is essential to building a robust and sustainable research ecosystem in Manitoba. Our awards not only provide critical support for emerging talent, but also help ensure that highly qualified personnel choose to stay, work, and contribute to research excellence right here in our province.
This program is designed to support exceptional students, equipping them for careers as independent researchers across diverse sectors. Applicants are considered under three categories: Health, Natural Sciences & Engineering, and Social Sciences & Humanities. Each award provides a one-year annual stipend, funded through a combination of support from Research Manitoba and its funding partners.
